2/9/12 IMPORTANT NOTICE -

SENIOR PASTOR SELECTION PROCESS UPDATE

 

The pastoral search committee and Hillside’s Administrative Board are pleased to announce they have selected a candidate for the Senior Pastor position.

The next step in the process is to have an all church “get acquainted” meeting where the congregation will have the opportunity to meet the candidate and his family and ask questions of the candidate.  The date for this meeting will be Friday, February 24th at 7 pm in the Worship Center.

Mark on your calendar the weekend of March 10/11. The candidate will be preaching at all 3 services. After the service the congregation will have the opportunity to affirm the selection and issue a call to the candidate to be the next Senior Pastor of Hillside Community Church.

SEARCH COMMITTEE

As you know by now, our Sr. Pastor, Dave Burns, is retiring. We are presently moving ahead in our search for a new senior pastor and we thought you might want to know who the search team is that will be coordinating the search process.

Regarding the process, what will happen next is a nationwide search will result in a prospective candidate being screened and interviewed, and eventually all-church meetings will be set up for the church family to become acquainted with the candidate and ask important questions of the candidate. At the conclusion of that process, a final candidate will be presented to the church family for a church-wide vote of approval.

If you have any questions about the process, please address your questions to Lesley Walpus and please do not corner the individual team members for information about individual candidates. Discretion and confidentiality are absolutely crucial to a healthy search process. Thanks for your cooperation at this important time.

Our team is made up of six members and they are:
	Lesley Walpus (Team facilitator) Lesley is well known by all at Hillside in her roles as Pastor of Women's Ministries and teaching pastor. She has been involved at Hillside for 22 years and has served in a variety of capacities including at one time children, youth, missions and adults. Lesley graduated from Wheaton College and also has a master's degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is married to Hardy, an orthopedic physician's assistant, and together they have four children ages 11, 16, 19, and 22. Lesley also serves presently as the church moderator.
	Dr. Cameron Lee Cameron is Professor of Family Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. He and his wife Suha, a high school math teacher, have two children, a son 26 and a daughter 24 and have attended Hillside for 22 years. Cameron is one our teaching pastors and also has served in the past on our administrative board.
	Dan Lundberg Dan and his wife Carol, have two children, a son Ian who will be attending Harvard this fall, and a daughter who attends Upland High School. Carol is a Professor at Azusa Pacific University. Dan at one time served on the staff of various churches and presently is an elementary school teacher in Ontario. The Lundberg's have been attending Hillside for 22 years and have served the church in about every role possible.
	Dr. Lynne Kennedy Lynne is married to Michael, an attorney and has been attending Hillside for 14 years. She presently is Superintendent of the Banning Unified School District and has been actively involved with adult small groups here at Hillside.
	Tim McCoy Tim is married to his wife Jan. Jan has been very active through the years as a bible study leader, and together they have three grown children, 41, 40, and 31. The McCoy's have been attending Hillside for 7 years and Tim, a former attorney, has just finished a term as the Presiding Judge of Los Angeles County. He presently works as a judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
	Dave Hontz Dave and his wife Shirley have attended Hillside for 14 years. Dave is a sergeant in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Shirley is a R.N. at San Antonio Community Hospital. Please be in prayer for our team as they work together with our church board and staff to find just the right person to serve here at Hillside for the next exciting ministry chapter. We are very excited about the future. God has been over abundantly faithful to our church family through all these years and the best years are still yet to come.
